Know more about your student's VISA

If you are a citizen of a foreign country and want to study in a college or university, you must have a valid student VISA. You can apply for a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. The government of the U.S. offers two types of VISAs to students, including an F visa and an M visa. The VISAs are offered according to your level of study and your educational institution to where you want to get admitted.
Here is a list of courses and the type of VISAs that are offered to students accordingly.

• Employment opportunities for foreign students

  If you have a student VISA to the US, you can apply for any on-campus part-time job for up to 20 hours per week during the terms. International students can work full-time or up to 40 hours per week during vacations. On-campus employment is available to students within the campus. On the other hand, you can also choose an off-campus location that is not within your campus but associated with your campus.
  If you want a part-time job, you must apply up to 30 days before your classes start. You can contact your DSO of the educational institution to get more information reading the employment while studying. If you become eligible, the DSO will provide a letter of approval. You can apply for a Social Security Number (SSN) with this approval letter to get your part-time job.
